I Tried the Viral 2 Ingredient Japanese Cheesecake
Is this TikTok trend too good to be true? I taste tested to find out!
Another month, another TikTok trend that sends me running to the grocery store. This time, it was the viral Japanese Cheesecake. The best part? It’s only 2 ingredients.
All you need is greek yogurt and Biscoff cookies. I went with an unsweetened greek yogurt to keep this “cheesecake” as healthy as possible. Specifically, the Oikos Plain High Protein yogurt which is 19 grams of protein per serving and no added sugar.
How To Make The Viral TikTok Japanese Cheesecake
Ingredients:
Yogurt of your choice
Biscoff Cookies
Pour the yogurt into a bowl or alternatively, use the container it’s already in if you’d like to make a large portion.
Place cookies into yogurt making sure that the cookie is completely submerged. As for how many cookies? The limit does not exist.
Place back into fridge and wait 24 hours to allow the cookies to soften.
Enjoy!
My Thoughts:
I was very skeptical this could be delicious, let alone taste like cheesecake. This yogurt is sour and tastes about as healthy as can be. But boy was I wrong!
This was so delicious! I loved that the cookies absorb the moisture from the yogurt and become spongey and cake-like. Biscoffs are sweet and have a gingerbread like spice that when combined with the yogurt really mimics cheesecake! I’ve already made a second batch.
What’s most exciting about this recipe is that it’s easy to modify to your liking. I personally always aim to lower my sugar intake so I think I would stick to unsweetened yogurt but if it’s not sweet enough for you, this would be insanely delicious with a sweetened vanilla version.
You can also swap the cookie for any kind you’d like. I recently saw a version with Oreo thins and that is going to be next on my list. I also am curious to try the Oikos Banana Protein yogurt (sweetened with Stevia) to see if I can try and get a banana pudding style version. The possibilities are truly endless!
Have you tried this viral recipe? What combos are you looking to try?
